What slows it down
Search basics
Google PageSpeed Insights, mobile, on a simulated mid-range phone. Scores move a few points between runs.
Reading the results
What the four scores mean.
Each is out of 100. Around 90 and above is good; below 50 needs attention.
-
Speed
How quickly the page appears and becomes usable on a mid-range phone. Slow pages lose visitors before they read a word.
-
Search basics
Whether search engines can read the page properly: titles, descriptions, links and mobile layout. Not rankings, just the foundations.
-
Accessibility
Whether everyone can use the page, including people using screen readers or keyboards. Poor scores often mean poor usability for all.
-
Best practices
Security and quality checks: secure connections, no browser errors, images at the right size.

Is this the same as Google PageSpeed Insights?
Yes. We run Google’s own test on the mobile version of your page and explain the results in plain English. The numbers are Google’s, not ours.
Why does it test the mobile version?
Most visitors arrive on a phone, and Google mainly uses the mobile version of a site when deciding how to rank it. The test simulates a mid-range phone on a slower mobile connection, so scores are usually lower than on a fast office computer.
Why do the scores change between runs?
Network conditions, the server and third-party scripts vary from moment to moment, so the same page can move a few points between tests. Look at the pattern, not a single number.
Do you keep my website address?
Only if you send it to us with the form. The check itself is not stored; our hosting may keep the result for a few hours so the same site is not tested twice in a row.
A good score means the site is fine, then?
Not necessarily. The test cannot see whether visitors understand what you offer, whether the enquiry form works, or whether enquiries reach the right person. That is what a person’s look is for.
Good scores, still no enquiries?
Speed is only part of it. Tell us about your site and we look at the whole path from a visitor landing to an enquiry reaching the right person.
