Public information only Finance & controls Risk and internal controls: Controls that work in a small team.
Segregation of duties is hard with ten people in finance, or two. We test how your key processes really operate, find where one person can do too much, and design checks that fit the team you actually have.

Risk and internal controls
What the work covers.
Big Four rigour, applied to your business: numbers ready for your auditors, your lenders and the decisions you need to make.
- 01
Payments and purchasing
Who can create a supplier, change bank details, approve an invoice and release a payment, and whether any one person can do all four.
- 02
Revenue and receivables
Pricing, credit notes and write-offs: where revenue can slip away quietly, and who would notice.
- 03
Journals, reconciliations and reviews
Whether reconciliations are reviewed or just done, and whether manual journals carry a second pair of eyes.
- 04
System access
Who holds admin rights in the finance and banking systems, and whether leavers’ access actually ends when they do.
How it works
Fixed scope. No surprises.
We walk through each process with the people who run it, test a sample of real transactions, and rate every gap on likelihood and impact. Recommendations favour cheap, habit-level fixes, such as a call-back rule or a second approver, before anything that needs new software.
- 01 First conversation
By email or a free 30-minute call, to understand the problem and whether this is the right fix.
- 02 Fixed scope and price
In writing, before any work starts. No hourly meter running.
- 03 The work and handover
Led by a founding partner, finished with documentation your team can use.

Contact usWe are too small for segregation of duties. What then?
Most small teams are. The answer is compensating controls: an owner reviewing the payment run, a monthly look at supplier changes, a second approver above a threshold. We design around the people you have.
Is this the same as an internal audit?
No. It is an advisory review of how your finance controls work in practice, sized for a growing business. It gives no assurance and no audit opinion.
Will you help put the fixes in?
Yes, if you want. Many fixes are policy and habit; where a system change is needed, our technology practice can do it.
